Dr Roja Moghadam
Dr Roja Moghadam is a Postdoctoral Researcher with PMTC, working on PMTC's Pharmaceutical Plant Cleaning projects.
Roja holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering (Process Design) and has expertise in PAT data analysis, process design, control and optimization, process modeling, and applying machine learning to predictive models in continuous manufacturing processes and API characterization.
Her role focuses on control and optimization using in-line implementation of PAT (Raman) within continuous manufacturing processes. This includes optimizing the extrusion process to enhance co-crystal purity, analyzing PAT data, characterizing co-crystals, developing predictive models in "R" and Python, and making data-driven decisions. She also works on real-time monitoring using PharmaMV, designs dashboards for process digitalization, and applies process control to create a "Digital Twin." Roja collaborates with cross-functional teams, including PMTC, SSPC, and Eli Lilly, for real-time bioprocess monitoring.
Previously, she was a postdoctoral researcher in the Multiphase Reactor and Intensification Group (mRING), led by Prof. Vivek Ranade (PMTC's Academic Sponsor) at the Bernal Institute, where she developed a soft sensor for Table-Top Manufacturing of Tailored Silica for Personalized Medicine (SiPM). This project involved synthesizing silica nanoparticles, intensifying the adsorption process, and developing an ML-based soft sensor for quick estimating surface area during table-top manufacturing.
