PMTC Industrial Research Day

On December 2nd, 2025, the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Technology Centre (PMTC) hosted its Industrial Research Day at the Bernal Institute. The event drew an impressive audience of over 100 participants, reflecting the strong interest and engagement from across the industry and academia.

The day began with updates on PMTC’s core projects, showcasing advances in areas such as circular pharmaceutical cleaning, remote visual inspection and digital twins. These projects underline PMTC’s commitment to driving innovation in the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector.

Under the “Advancing Innovation Through Collaboration” session, PMTC industrial members, including SMEs and MNCs, shared their experiences of collaborating with PMTC, under different pathways, such as feasibility study, core projects or innovation partnership (IPP). The session provided an excellent platform for our members to highlight their journey of becoming part of PMTC, showcase their offerings and technologies, and demonstrate the value of Industry/Academia collaboration in advancing innovation.

The day ended by a thought-provoking plenary talk on “Managing the risks of using Process Analytics Technology (PAT) and digitalisation to drive process efficiency and sustainability in the BioPharma industry”. The talk set the stage for a lively panel discussion with industrial and academic subject-matter experts, who engaged in a rich dialogue, offering diverse perspectives on the opportunities and challenges - technical, regulatory, organisational, and cultural- of implementing PAT in biopharmaceutical manufacturing. The distinguished panellists provided deep insights into the future of process analytics and digitalisation, and how to realise the full value of PAT while managing the risks that come with innovation.

The event was a clear demonstration of PMTC’s role as a hub for collaboration, innovation, and knowledge-sharing in pharmaceutical manufacturing. The success of the event reflects the strength of the PMTC community and its commitment to advancing the Irish pharma sector.

Finaly, we extend our sincere gratitude to the distinguished speakers and panellists, all participants, and the PMTC organisational team, whose dedication and commitment ensured the outstanding success of this Industrial Research Day.”

Looking forward to meeting you again in the PMTC Knowledge Day in May 2026!
