Advanced Rapid Micro-Analytical Techniques

Advanced Rapid Micro-Analytical Techniques logo

Aim: We have developed a new technique to identify and test microbial contamination of all excipients, products and equipment utilised in Pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Research: MICROPRINT is a portable hand-held device for the rapid detection of microbial contamination. The device combines polymeric microbial capture, enzymatic bacterial profiling and electrochemical detection to determine microbe numbers. Proof-of-concept has been established using coliform indicator organisms via non-selective filter capture and electrochemical assay at printed transducers. Coliforms are an indicator of sanitary quality and are of pertinent concern in food and pharmaceutical production, representing an ideal target
