SALARY SCALE: €37,750 - €46,255 p.a.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • A doctoral degree (level 10 NFQ) in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or related discipline.

 

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

 

In collaboration with Britest and the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Technology Centre (PMTC) industry partners, develop a clearly defined methodology for pharmaceutical plant cleaning protocol development, validation and verification, grounded in science and engineering.  This approach will deliver parallel hierarchies for a range of scales (molecular, micro and molecular) which could operate with the support of the existing Britest tools, or other existing or new tools developed during the project.  The methodology will have broad impact for the industry and will give excellent industry exposure to the successful candidate.

 

DESCRIPTION:

 

A Post Doctoral Researcher in the area of methodology development is required for a specific purpose contract, which is initially funded until August 2016 with the possibility of extension. The position involves significant interaction with multinational and indigenous pharmaceutical industry partners and represents a unique opportunity to develop a methodology using Britest’s tools which will have significant impact on the sector.  The successful candidate will be supported by Britest and the PMTC and will have the unique opportunity to interact with the world’s top pharmaceutical companies operating in Ireland.

 

Essential Criteria:

 

  • A doctoral degree (level 10 NFQ) in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or related discipline.
  • A minimum of three years’ research experience in a relevant area.
  • Confident communicator (oral and written).
  • Self-starter and motivated.
  • Ability to engage a multidisciplinary group/team to work towards a common goal.

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of managing and conducting research and development projects as well as a demonstrable competency in publishing research, intellectual property creation and report writing.
  • Experience of Industrial Research & Development and awareness of the importance of Intellectual Property management and protection. 
  • Demonstrable experience/knowledge of the innovation process would be a major advantage.
  • Demonstrable experience in industrial pharmaceutical and/or related industry.
